The 90’s Comeback: 10 Facts You Didn’t Know About Nickelodeon

90s denim jacket for women comeback

From Nitendo 64 and AOL messenger to recording your favorite jams on cassette tapes and watching Rugrats the Movie on an orange VHS, the 90’s was filled with things that we all looked back on nostalgically. Luckily, the 90’s are making a profound comeback in all sorts of ways, letting us reminisce about the good ol’ days.

If you’re a 90’s kid, there a good chance your favorite TV channel was Nickelodeon. We’ve rounded up 10 “did you know?” facts about Nickelodeon, the inspiration behind our #1 selling denim jackets featuring Rugrats and Hey Arnold!

  1. Nickelodeon coined the term “tween.”
  2. These days, entire TV shows, movies, books and magazines target the “tween” demographic, but according to “Roundhouse” co-creator Rita Hester, the word didn’t exist before Nickelodeon.
  3. Nickelodeon’s famous green slime was made with a few key secret ingredients: Cream of Wheat, green food coloring, Johnson's baby shampoo, vegetable oil, and occasionally cottage cheese.
  4. Nickelodeon Studios originally printed the blimp logo on its toilet paper, but visitors kept stealing it, so they switched to normal toilet paper.
  5. On April 30, 1992, Nickelodeon buried a time capsule that won't be opened until 2042. We still have another 24 years to go!
  6. There's an original Rugrats pilot that never aired, called "Tommy Pickles and the Great White Thing."
  7. All of the children on Rugrats were voiced by women.
  8. Busta Rhymes was the voice of Reptar.
  9. Arnold's last name is Shortman. His full name is Arnold Philip Shortman.
  10. Hey Arnold! originally began as a claymation series that aired during Sesame Street. The shorts featured four future Hey Arnold! characters: Arnold, Helga, Harold, and Rhonda.

We wanted to keep the 90’s alive, so we combined the perfect 90’s pair - the bomber jacket and our favorite Nickelodeon shows. To make it even more 90’s, it’s not just an average bomber it’s made of denim! With denim making its comeback this spring, our Nickelodeon Bombers featuring either Rugrats or Hey Arnold! are our new favorite denim.
